Description

Create your own colored salt for home decor or crafts with this fun and easy DIY project.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup coarse salt (kosher salt or sea salt)
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Mixing bowls
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper (optional)
  • Airtight storage containers (for finished salt)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Workspace: Clear a large, flat surface and gather all materials.
  2. Color the Salt: In a bowl, add 1 cup of coarse salt. Choose your food coloring and start with 2-3 drops, mixing well. Continue adding until you achieve your desired shade.
  3. Spread the Salt: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper (optional) and evenly spread the colored salt on the baking sheet.
  4. Dry the Salt: Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C). Place the baking sheet in the oven for 10 minutes to dry the salt. Remove and let cool completely.
  5. Store the Salt: Transfer the cooled colored salt into airtight containers for future use.

Notes

Experiment with layering colors or adding essential oils for scented salt. Consider including biodegradable glitter for a creative touch.
