Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup of Borax powder
- 3 cups of boiling water
- A clean glass jar
- A pencil or stick (to suspend the crystals)
- String or thread
- Food coloring (optional)
- A saucepan
- Spoon for stirring
Instructions
- In a saucepan, bring 3 cups of water to a boil.
- Gradually add 1 cup of Borax powder, stirring until fully dissolved.
- Pour the Borax solution into the clean glass jar, leaving some space at the top.
- If using food coloring, add it now and stir gently.
- Tie one end of the string to the pencil or stick and suspend it in the jar.
- Leave the jar in a cool, undisturbed location overnight.
- Watch as tiny crystals start forming along the string and at the bottom of the jar.
