Description

Craft colorful crayon suncatchers that brighten your home and recycle old crayons.

Ingredients

  • Crayons (broken or whole in various colors)
  • Oven-safe baking dish or silicone mold
  • Parchment paper (optional, for easy removal)
  • Cookie cutter (optional, for shaping)
  • Oven or toaster oven
  • Scissors or craft knife (for detailed shapes)
  • String or ribbon (for hanging)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Crayons: Gather all crayons and peel off their wrappers. Break crayons into small pieces for faster melting.
  2. Choose Your Shape: Select a baking dish or silicone mold. Arrange the crayon pieces in your chosen design; mixing colors can create marbled effects.
  3. Baking Process: Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C). Place the baking dish or mold in the oven. Bake for approximately 10-15 minutes, or until crayons completely melt.
  4. Cooling and Removal: Carefully remove the mold from the oven (use oven mitts!). Let it cool for about 30 minutes until set. If using parchment paper, gently peel away. If not, carefully pop it out of the mold.
  5. Finishing Touches: Use a craft knife to trim any rough edges. If desired, attach string or ribbon for hanging.

Notes

Experiment with color combinations and shapes to create unique designs.
