Description
Create vibrant and engaging Crayon Sun Catchers using old, broken crayons to brighten your windows and express creativity.
Ingredients
- Old, broken crayons (any color)
- Clear plastic sheets or wax paper
- Sharpener or knife (for shaving crayons)
- Cookie cutter or template (for shaping)
- Oven or hot sunny window
- Baking sheet (if using an oven)
Instructions
- Gather old crayons and remove any paper wrapping; use a sharpener or knife to shave the crayons into small pieces.
- Place a clear plastic sheet or wax paper on a baking sheet (if using the oven method) and scatter the shaved crayons onto the plastic in a design you like.
- For the oven method, preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and place the baking sheet in the oven for about 10 minutes until the crayons are completely melted.
- If using a sunny window, place the baking sheet on a sunny windowsill and allow the crayons to melt naturally, which may take a few hours.
- Once melted, use cookie cutters to cut out shapes or let it dry flat for a simple sun catcher, then carefully lift them off the plastic once cooled completely.
- Use string or suction cups to hang your sun catcher in a sunny spot and enjoy the colors dancing on your walls!
Notes
Experiment with different color combinations and shapes for unique designs. You can also incorporate glitter for extra sparkle.
