Description

Create colorful Crayon Star Suncatchers as a fun and engaging craft for all ages, perfect for recycling old crayons.

Ingredients

  • Old crayons (various colors)
  • Wax paper
  • Pencil sharpener or knife (for shaving crayons)
  • Baking sheet
  • Oven
  • Cookie cutters (star shape or any other desired shape)
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon or string (for hanging)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace with a flat, clean surface and preheat oven to 200°F (93°C).
  2. Remove wrappers from old crayons and shave them into small pieces using a pencil sharpener or knife.
  3. Lay a piece of wax paper on your baking sheet and arrange shaved crayon pieces within the cookie cutter shape.
  4. Place another layer of wax paper on top of the crayon pieces.
  5. Place the baking sheet in the oven for 5-10 minutes, monitoring closely as the crayons melt.
  6. Once melted, remove from the oven and let cool completely before peeling away the wax paper.
  7. Use scissors to cut out the suncatcher shape and attach a ribbon or string for hanging.

Notes

Consider using different color themes or cookie cutter shapes for a unique suncatcher. You can also use metallic crayons for added sparkle.
