A fun and creative project perfect for kids, making colorful sun catchers from melted crayons and wax paper.
Ingredients
- Old crayons (about 1-2 cups)
- Wax paper
- Cookie cutters (star shape or your favorite shape)
- Iron (adult supervision recommended)
- String or yarn for hanging (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your iron to a low setting without steam.
- Remove the paper from the crayons and break them into small pieces (about 1-inch chunks).
- Place a piece of wax paper on a flat surface and arrange your crayon pieces on one half.
- Fold the other half of the wax paper over the crayons to create a pocket.
- Iron over the top layer of wax paper until the crayons melt and blend together.
- Once cooled slightly, peel apart the wax paper and cut out shapes with cookie cutters.
- Punch a small hole at the top of each star and thread with string or yarn for hanging.
Notes
Experiment with different color combinations and cookie cutter shapes for various seasons. Always supervise younger kids with the iron.
