Description
Create beautiful, eco-friendly suncatchers with old crayons and dried flowers for a colorful display in your home.
Ingredients
- Old crayons (various colors)
- Dried flowers (petals, leaves)
- Wax paper (or parchment paper)
- Iron (for melting crayons)
- Scissors
- String (for hanging)
- Baking sheet (to protect surfaces)
Instructions
- Gather Materials: Collect all your materials in a well-lit workspace.
- Preheat the Iron: Set your iron to a low heat setting.
- Break Crayons: Shatter crayons into small pieces (1-2 inches).
- Arrange on Wax Paper: Place a piece of wax paper on the baking sheet. Scatter crayon pieces in desired patterns, leaving space for flowers.
- Layer for Effect: Add dried flowers on top of crayon pieces.
- Cover with Wax Paper: Fold the wax paper over the arrangement, creating a sandwich effect.
- Heat with Iron: Carefully press the iron on low heat over the wax paper for a few seconds. Move continuously to avoid burning. Watch the crayons melt and blend.
- Cool Down: Once melted, remove from heat and allow it to cool completely.
- Cut Out Shapes: Trim the cooled suncatcher to your desired shape.
- Attach a String: Cut a small piece of string and attach it for hanging.
Notes
Experiment with different color combinations and flower selections for unique designs. Ensure the project is supervised for younger children, especially during the melting process.
