Description

A whimsical treat that combines the sweetness of cotton candy with the crunch of popcorn, perfect for parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of popcorn kernels (or 1 bag of plain popcorn)
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil or butter
  • 1 teaspoon of cotton candy flavored extract
  • Food coloring (pink, blue, or any desired color)
  • Sea salt (optional)
  • Parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Pop the popcorn using an air popper or stovetop method. If using stovetop, heat a large pot over medium heat, add the oil, and then the popcorn kernels, covering the pot. Once popping slows, remove from heat and let it cool.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and coconut oil (or butter). Heat over medium heat until the mixture is smooth and starts to bubble. Add the cotton candy flavored extract and food coloring, stirring until well combined.
  3. Place the popped popcorn in a large mixing bowl. Pour the cotton candy coating over the popcorn while gently tossing to coat evenly. Use your hands or a spatula to ensure every piece is covered.
  4. Spread the coated popcorn onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Allow to cool completely for about 15-20 minutes before breaking into pieces. Sprinkle with sea salt if desired and serve in fun, colorful bowls!

Notes

For flavor variations, try different flavored extracts like vanilla, cherry, or grape. You can also mix in sprinkles, mini marshmallows, or candy pieces for added fun.
