Description

A delightful technique to preserve flowers using cornstarch, creating lasting keepsakes that highlight the beauty of nature.

Ingredients

  • Fresh flowers (small and flat blooms like pansies, daisies, or violets)
  • Cornstarch
  • Silica gel (optional)
  • Cardboard or thick paper
  • A heavy book or weights
  • Wax paper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the flowers by trimming stems to about 1-2 inches.
  2. Create the pressing sandwich with a layer of cornstarch and lay flowers face down.
  3. Press the flowers with another piece of cardboard and weights, letting sit for 1-2 weeks.
  4. Brush off the cornstarch and use wax paper for added protection if desired.

Notes

Dried flowers can be used, but fresh ones yield the best colors. Customize your presses with different flower types and colors.
