Description

Create your own festive cornstarch foam dough for crafting ornaments and decorations this holiday season.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup white glue (school or craft glue)
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Vanilla extract or essential oils (for scent, optional)
  • A large mixing bowl
  • A saucepan
  • A spoon or spatula
  • Wax paper for drying

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of cornstarch, 1/2 cup of baking soda, and 1 cup of white glue. Stir slowly to avoid splashes.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the mixture with 1 1/4 cups of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring continuously.
  3. Keep stirring until the dough forms a thick, goopy consistency that pulls away from the sides. This usually takes about 5-10 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool slightly, then transfer onto a surface covered with wax paper. Knead until smooth and pliable.
  5. If desired, divide the dough into portions, add food coloring, and knead until colors are blended. Mix in vanilla extract or essential oils for a fragrant touch.
  6. Shape the dough into ornaments or decorations and place them on wax paper to dry completely.
