Scale
- 6 medium-sized apples (preferably Granny Smith)
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup corn syrup
- 1 cup water
- Candy food coloring (various colors)
- Lollipop sticks or wooden skewers
- Silicone baking mat or parchment paper
- Optional: edible glitter or sprinkles for decoration
- Optional: flavor extracts (like vanilla or cinnamon)
Instructions
- Wash and dry the apples thoroughly to remove any wax.
- Insert a lollipop stick into the top of each apple, ensuring it’s secure.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Once boiling, stop stirring and let it reach the hard crack stage (about 300°F or 150°C).
- Once the desired temperature is reached, remove from heat.
- Divide the candy mixture into separate bowls if using multiple colors.
- Add a few drops of candy food coloring to each bowl until you achieve your desired brightness.
- Stir gently to incorporate the color without losing the glossy finish.
- Quickly dip each apple into the colored candy mixture, swirling until fully coated.
- Allow excess candy to drip off before placing them on a silicone mat or parchment paper.
- If using edible glitter or sprinkles, sprinkle them on while the candy is still wet.
- Allow the candy apples to cool completely at room temperature.
- Once cooled, they’re ready to glow and impress!
