Description

Create vibrant and eco-friendly bioplastic suncatchers that brighten your home while promoting sustainability.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon glycerin
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Wax paper
  • Cookie cutters or molds
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • String or ribbon (for hanging)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine cornstarch, water, white vinegar, and glycerin. Stir over low heat until it thickens into a gel-like consistency.
  2. Divide the mixture into small bowls and add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl, mixing thoroughly.
  3. Place wax paper on a flat surface and use cookie cutters or molds to shape the colored bioplastic, making sure to poke a small hole at the top of each suncatcher for hanging.
  4. Allow the suncatchers to sit and dry completely for 24-48 hours, then gently lift them off the wax paper.
  5. Trim any rough edges with scissors and thread string or ribbon through the holes to hang in a sunny spot.

Notes

Customize shapes and colors to express your creativity. For added texture, incorporate dried flowers or leaves.
