Ingredients

- 1 cup of water
- 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon of corn syrup
- Food coloring (variety of colors)
- Wax paper or parchment paper
- Cookie cutters (various shapes)
- Non-stick spray (optional)
- Paintbrush (for swirling colors)
- Scissors
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine water, cornstarch, and corn syrup. Stir until smooth.
- Over medium heat, continuously stir until the mixture thickens and becomes translucent (about 5-7 minutes).
- Remove from heat and divide the mixture into separate bowls.
- Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl and mix until fully incorporated.
- Lay out wax or parchment paper on a flat surface. Optionally spray a light layer of non-stick spray.
- Use cookie cutters to shape suncatchers and pour the colored mixture into each cutter, filling about ¼ inch thick.
- Swirl the colors with a paintbrush for a marbled effect or leave distinct.
- Allow the suncatchers to dry completely, preferably overnight.
- Carefully remove from the cookie cutters and trim any uneven edges.
Notes
Experiment with different shades, shapes, and even glitter to customize your suncatchers. Adult supervision is recommended while heating ingredients.
