Description
A fun and colorful crafting activity for kids that explores creativity and science through color mixing with coffee filters.
Ingredients
- Coffee filters
- Watercolor paints (or markers)
- Small bowls of water
- Spray bottle (optional)
- Paper towels
- Scissors (for adult use)
- Protective coverings (like an old tablecloth or newspaper)
Instructions
- Prepare your workspace by laying down protective covering on the table to catch spills and gathering all materials.
- Create your base by slightly flattening a coffee filter on the table, and optionally folding it into quarters for easier design layout.
- Apply colors using watercolor paints or markers. Encourage kids to experiment with different colors and patterns, and for a spray bottle method, lightly mist with water.
- Soak and spread the filter in a bowl of water to allow colors to blend, using paper towels to absorb excess water.
- Dry your creations by laying the designs flat on paper towels and consider shaping or displaying them once dry.
Notes
Customize your designs by using food coloring, adding glitter, or experimenting with different types of paper.
