Description

A fun and easy craft project for all ages, making colorful coffee filter butterflies.

Ingredients

  • Coffee filters (white or natural)
  • Washable markers (various colors)
  • Spray bottle with water
  • Pipe cleaners (green for the body and any color for antennae)
  • Scissors
  • Paper towels or a tray (for drying)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Workspace: Clear a flat surface and lay down paper towels or a tray to catch excess water.
  2. Color the Coffee Filters: Lay a filter flat and use washable markers to add vibrant colors on one side. Experiment with different patterns.
  3. Apply Water: Lightly spray the colored filter with water and watch the colors blend.
  4. Dry the Filters: Place wet filters on paper towels to dry for about 15-30 minutes. Use a hairdryer on low for faster drying.
  5. Shape the Butterflies: Once dry, fold the filter in half, pinch the middle, and twist it to form the body. Secure with a pipe cleaner.
  6. Display Your Butterflies: Pin or tape your butterflies to walls or create a mobile!

Notes

Experiment with food coloring and mixed media for unique designs.
