Description

A fun and educational craft project that combines art and science by creating vibrant butterflies using chromatography techniques.

Ingredients

  • White coffee filters (preferably round)
  • Washable markers (various colors)
  • Spray bottle with water
  • Pipe cleaners (chenille stems)
  • Scissors
  • Optional: Plain paper for drying

Instructions

  1. Lay out your coffee filters on a flat surface and create designs on each using washable markers.
  2. Fill the spray bottle with water and gently spray the filters until they are damp.
  3. Place the wet filters on a clean surface or plain paper to dry completely, allowing at least 30 minutes.
  4. Once dried, fold the filter in half, pinch the center, and twist to create the butterfly body.
  5. Secure the center with a pipe cleaner and adjust the wings.

Notes

For added creativity, use different colors of markers and incorporate glitter or sequins for extra sparkle.
