Description

A fun and educational activity for children that enhances sensory exploration with chia seeds.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup chia seeds
  • 6 cups water
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Large bin or container
  • Measuring cups
  • Containers for scooping and pouring (e.g., cups, spoons, or scoops)
  • Optional: Natural items (e.g. leaves, small stones, or flowers)

Instructions

  1. Measure 1 cup of chia seeds and place them in a bowl.
  2. Add 6 cups of water, stirring gently. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to the water before mixing.
  3. Cover the bowl and let the mixture sit for about 1-2 hours to hydrate the seeds.
  4. Transfer the hydrated chia seeds into a large bin or container.
  5. Add any natural items you’d like to include for extra sensory stimulation.
  6. Encourage children to scoop, pour, and explore the sensory bin.

Notes

Chia seeds can last for a few days in a sealed container in the refrigerator. Supervision is recommended for younger children to prevent choking hazards.
