Description

A whimsical cardboard tube dragonfly craft that encourages creativity and sustainability using everyday materials.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 empty cardboard toilet paper tube
  • Colored markers or paints
  • Craft scissors
  • Googly eyes (optional)
  • Glue or a glue stick
  • Printable dragonfly template (optional)
  • Pipe cleaners (for antennae, optional)
  • Glitter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the cardboard tube into two segments, one about 4 inches long for the body and a smaller piece for the head if desired.
  2. Use markers or paint to decorate your tube with vibrant colors or patterns.
  3. If using, glue googly eyes to the head section.
  4. Cut out two wing shapes from the remaining cardboard or colored paper.
  5. Paint or color the wings to match or contrast with the body.
  6. Glue the wings to the back of the body tube.
  7. Cut two lengths of pipe cleaners, twist them together, and glue or poke them into the top of the head for antennae.

Notes

Consider creating a mobile or incorporating nature elements for enhancement. Make the project easier for younger children by pre-cutting materials.
