Ingredients
- A clean glass jar with a lid
- Small aquarium pebbles or colored gravel
- Activated charcoal (optional)
- Aquatic plants (e.g., moss, small ferns)
- Miniature toys or decorations (e.g., driftwood, figurines)
- Distilled water
- Water conditioner (if using live plants or aquatic animals)
- A small scoop or spoon
Instructions
- Prepare Your Jar: Rinse the glass jar thoroughly to ensure it’s clean. Remove any labels or stickers to create a clean look.
- Add the Base Layer: Carefully pour a layer of small aquarium pebbles or colored gravel into the bottom of the jar, aiming for about 1-2 inches.
- Optional Charcoal Layer: If using activated charcoal, add a thin layer to help keep the water fresh and control odor.
- Add the Plants: Gently insert aquatic plants into the gravel, ensuring roots are buried while some leaves extend above the water level.
- Decorate Your Aquarium: Add miniature toys or decorations amongst the plants, following your envisioned theme.
- Fill with Water: Slowly pour distilled water into the jar, avoiding disturbance of the gravel and plants. Add water conditioner if needed.
- Cap and Display: Place the lid securely on your jar and set it in a location with indirect sunlight.
