Description

Create stunning glowing gel art that transforms into beautiful pressed botanical suncatchers, perfect for any decor.

Ingredients

  • Transparent clear gel medium
  • Natural botanicals (flowers, leaves, etc.)
  • Suncatcher mold or shallow tray
  • Tweezers for placement
  • Craft knife or scissors
  • Mixing stick
  • A UV light (optional for accelerated curing)
  • Acrylic paint (optional for color enhancement)
  • Gloves (for easy cleanup)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Workspace – Clear a large, flat surface and cover it with newspaper or a plastic sheet. Gather all your materials within reach.
  2. Select Your Botanicals – Choose assorted flowers and leaves. Look for vibrant colors and interesting shapes. Gently rinse and pat them dry.
  3. Mix the Gel Medium – In a mixing bowl, pour the transparent gel medium. Use a mixing stick to stir, ensuring it’s smooth and free of bubbles.
  4. Arrange Botanicals in the Mold – Carefully place the natural materials in the mold or tray, experimenting with different layouts. Use tweezers for precise placement.
  5. Pour the Gel Over Botanicals – Slowly pour the gel medium over the arranged leaves and flowers, ensuring they are fully covered. Avoid bubbles by pouring gently along the edges.
  6. Let It Cure – Allow the suncatchers to cure as per the medium’s instructions (typically 24 hours). Optionally, place them under a UV light to speed up the process.
  7. Remove and Trim – Once cured, carefully remove the suncatchers from the mold. Use a craft knife to trim any excess gel around the edges for a clean finish.

Notes

Tips include using acrylic paint for color effects and experimenting with different shapes and textures for your suncatchers.
