Description
Create vibrant butterfly suncatchers to brighten your home using simple materials and techniques.
Ingredients
- Colorful tissue paper
- Clear contact paper or laminating sheets
- Scissors
- Black construction paper (for outlines)
- Pencil
- Optional: Glitter, markers, or other embellishments
Instructions
- Prepare the Contact Paper: Cut two pieces of contact paper to your desired size (around 12×12 inches works well). Peel the backing off one piece and lay it sticky side up on a clean table.
- Cut the Tissue Paper: Tear or cut the tissue paper into various shapes and sizes: squares, rectangles, or butterflies to create your designs. Experiment with different colors for a vibrant effect.
- Arrange the Tissue Paper: Place your colorful tissue paper pieces on the sticky side of the contact paper. Overlap them slightly and fill the space, leaving some gaps for contrast.
- Seal the Design: Carefully place the second piece of contact paper on top of the arranged tissue paper, sticky side down. Smooth out any bubbles or wrinkles gently.
- Create Butterfly Shapes: Trace and cut out butterfly shapes from the black construction paper. Stick these outlines over the outer edges of your suncatcher.
- Final Touches: Cut the suncatcher into your desired butterfly shape, leaving a small border. Use scissors to punch a small hole at the top of the butterfly if you want to hang it.
- Hang It Up: Use string or ribbon to hang your butterfly suncatcher in a sunny window. Enjoy the colorful display!
Notes
Experiment with color schemes, shapes, and materials for personal touches. Supervision is required for young crafters using scissors.
