Description

A fun and educational bubbling brew experiment for all ages that explores chemical reactions.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • Various colors of food coloring
  • 1 tablespoon dish soap
  • A large plastic or glass container
  • Safety goggles (optional)
  • Optional: glitter or small toys for added effects

Instructions

  1. Set up your workspace on a protected surface, like a tray or table covered with old newspapers. Put on safety goggles if desired.
  2. Pour 1/2 cup of baking soda into your large container. Add 1 tablespoon of dish soap to the baking soda.
  3. Add a few drops of food coloring into the baking soda mixture and swirl gently.
  4. Slowly pour in 1 cup of vinegar and step back to watch the bubbling reaction.
  5. For an extra touch, sprinkle glitter or add small toys into the mix after the fizzing starts.

Notes

Experiment with ratios of baking soda and vinegar for different fizzing effects and try adding essential oils for scents.
