- 1 plastic bottle (empty and clean)
- 1 sock (old or new)
- 1/4 cup dish soap
- Food coloring (optional)
- 1 cup water
- 1 rubber band
- 1 pair of scissors
- 1 large container or shallow dish (for bubble solution)
Instructions
- Using scissors, cut the bottom of the plastic bottle off so it resembles a funnel. Ensure the edges are smooth to avoid cuts.
- Take the sock and place it over the cut end of the bottle. Use the rubber band to secure the sock in place, ensuring it’s tight and won’t slip off.
- In a large container, mix 1/4 cup of dish soap with 1 cup of water. If you’re using food coloring, add a few drops of your chosen color for visually stimulating bubbles.
- Dip the sock-covered end of the bottle into the bubble solution. Remove it and gently blow into the open end of the bottle. Watch as long, slinky bubble snakes emerge!
- Try different blowing techniques for various bubble sizes and lengths. Change colors by using different food coloring combinations.
Notes
Experiment with different materials like paper towels instead of socks for creating bubbles. Supervise younger children closely during this activity.
