Description

Create beautiful Borax snowflakes through a fun and educational craft that combines science and art, perfect for winter decorations.

Ingredients

  • Borax powder (1/2 cup)
  • Hot water (2 cups)
  • Pipe cleaners (any color)
  • String or fishing line
  • Pencil or stick (for suspending your snowflake)
  • Glass jar or container (heatproof)
  • Pot for boiling water
  • Optional: Food coloring or glitter for customization

Instructions

  1. Gather all your materials in a clear and organized workspace.
  2. Boil 2 cups of water in a pot.
  3. Carefully add 1/2 cup of Borax powder to the hot water and stir until fully dissolved.
  4. Shape a pipe cleaner into your desired snowflake pattern.
  5. Tie a piece of string to your snowflake and attach it to a pencil or stick to hang in the jar.
  6. Pour the Borax solution into the jar, submerging the snowflake without touching the bottom, and let it sit undisturbed overnight.
  7. The next day, gently remove the snowflake from the jar and rinse with water to remove loose Borax, allowing it to dry completely before displaying.

Notes

Experiment with different colors and shapes, or sprinkle glitter on your snowflake before it dries for a sparkling effect.
