Description
Create stunning borax crystals through a fun and educational science project suitable for all ages.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup of water
- 3 tablespoons of borax
- A heatproof container (like a glass jar)
- String or pipe cleaners
- A pencil or stick (to suspend the string)
- Optional: food coloring (for colored crystals)
Instructions
- Boil the cup of water in a pot. Remove from heat and stir in the borax until fully dissolved.
- Shape the string or pipe cleaner into a desired shape and attach it to the pencil or stick.
- Carefully place the pencil across the jar’s opening to suspend the string in the borax solution.
- Leave the setup undisturbed in a cool, dry place for several hours or overnight.
- Once your desired size is reached, carefully remove the crystals from the solution and allow them to dry on a paper towel.
Notes
Customize your crystal shapes and colors for a more personal touch. Use different amounts of borax for varying crystal sizes.
