  • Clear glass jars or containers
  • Wire (for shaping shells)
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Spoon for stirring
  • Stove or hot water access
  • Parchment paper or tray (for drying)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Wire: Shape the wire into a seashell form ensuring it fits in the glass jar.
  2. Dissolve the Borax: In a pot, heat around 2 cups of water until boiling and stir in 1/2 cup of borax.
  3. Add Color (Optional): If desired, add food coloring to the borax solution and stir well.
  4. Immerse the Wire: Submerge the wire seashell into the solution without touching the bottom of the jar.
  5. Allow Crystal Growth: Leave the jar in a safe area for 6-12 hours to observe crystal formation.
  6. Remove and Dry: Carefully remove the seashell and place it on parchment paper to dry completely.
