Description

Create stunning seashell-shaped crystals using Borax and hot water—a fun and educational craft for all ages.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup Borax
  • 2 cups hot water
  • A heat-resistant container (glass jar or heat-safe bowl)
  • Seashell-shaped mold (silicone mold or plastic shells)
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Spoon for stirring
  • String (for hanging, optional)
  • A stirring stick or skewer

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace and gather all materials.
  2. Boil 2 cups of water and pour it into the heat-resistant container.
  3. Add 1/2 cup of Borax to the hot water and stir until dissolved.
  4. If desired, add food coloring and stir gently.
  5. Place the mold on a stable surface and pour the solution into it.
  6. If you want to hang the seashells, tie string to a skewer and place it over the mold.
  7. Let the mold sit undisturbed for 6-8 hours or overnight.
  8. Remove the crystals from the mold and rinse gently in cold water, then let dry.

Notes

Experiment with colors and different molds. Safe for kids but require adult supervision during heating.
