Description

Create beautiful heart-shaped crystals using simple materials and a bit of science. Perfect for gifts or home decor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Borax detergent
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • Clear, heat-resistant container (like a glass jar)
  • Pipe cleaner (in your choice of color)
  • Pencil or stick (to hold the pipe cleaner)
  • Optional: Food coloring (for colored crystals)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your pipe cleaner by bending it into the shape of a heart and twisting the ends together.
  2. Set up the container by filling it with 2 cups of boiling water.
  3. Add Borax gradually into the boiling water, ensuring it dissolves completely.
  4. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to the solution and mix well.
  5. Immerse the heart-shaped pipe cleaner in the solution, ensuring it’s submerged but not touching the bottom.
  6. Wait and watch as crystals form, leaving the container undisturbed for several hours or overnight.
  7. Remove the heart from the solution and place it on a paper towel to dry.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with different shapes and colors. For added sparkle, dip the finished crystals in glitter.
