Description

Create stunning crystal flowers using borax in a fun and educational craft project.


Ingredients

  • Borax (1/2 cup)
  • Boiling water (2 cups)
  • Pipe cleaners (assorted colors)
  • A glass jar or container
  • String or twine
  • A pencil or stick for hanging
  • Optional: food coloring

Instructions

  1. Shape the pipe cleaners into flower shapes or other designs, then twist the base to secure.
  2. Boil 2 cups of water in a pot, then add 1/2 cup of borax and stir until dissolved.
  3. (Optional) Add food coloring to the solution.
  4. Attach the flower to a pencil with string, and lower it into the borax solution without touching the jar.
  5. Let the jar sit undisturbed for several hours or overnight.
  6. Remove the flower and allow it to dry on a paper towel.

Notes

Experiment with different shapes and colors. Adding glitter can enhance the sparkle.
