Description

A fun and educational project to create beautiful Borax crystal flowers using simple household materials.

Ingredients

  • Borax (sodium borate)
  • Water
  • Pipe cleaners (various colors)
  • A clear glass jar or bowl
  • A heat source (like a kettle)
  • A spoon for stirring
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • String (optional for hanging)

Instructions

  1. Twist pipe cleaners into flower shapes; make sure they fit comfortably in your jar or bowl.
  2. Boil approximately 3 cups of water and add 1 cup of Borax, stirring continuously until it’s fully dissolved.
  3. If desired, add food coloring to the solution and stir well.
  4. Attach the pipe cleaner flowers to a string and suspend them in the jar without touching the sides, or place them directly in the solution.
  5. Set the jar in a safe area and wait for 6 to 24 hours to observe crystal growth.

Notes

Experiment with different colors and shapes. For larger crystals, increase the Borax concentration and allow a longer crystallization period.
