Description
A fun and educational project to create beautiful Borax crystal flowers using simple household materials.
Ingredients
- Borax (sodium borate)
- Water
- Pipe cleaners (various colors)
- A clear glass jar or bowl
- A heat source (like a kettle)
- A spoon for stirring
- Food coloring (optional)
- String (optional for hanging)
Instructions
- Twist pipe cleaners into flower shapes; make sure they fit comfortably in your jar or bowl.
- Boil approximately 3 cups of water and add 1 cup of Borax, stirring continuously until it’s fully dissolved.
- If desired, add food coloring to the solution and stir well.
- Attach the pipe cleaner flowers to a string and suspend them in the jar without touching the sides, or place them directly in the solution.
- Set the jar in a safe area and wait for 6 to 24 hours to observe crystal growth.
Notes
Experiment with different colors and shapes. For larger crystals, increase the Borax concentration and allow a longer crystallization period.
