Ingredients

  • 1 cup Borax
  • 3 cups hot water
  • Pipe cleaners (various colors)
  • A glass jar or bowl
  • Pencil or stick (to suspend the flower)
  • String (optional, for hanging)
  • Food coloring (optional, for color effects)

Instructions

  1. Bend the pipe cleaners into flower shapes, using several pieces twisted together for bulk.
  2. In a glass jar or bowl, pour 3 cups of hot water and slowly add 1 cup of Borax, stirring continuously until fully dissolved.
  3. Add a few drops of food coloring to the solution and stir.
  4. Tie a piece of string to the top of the pipe cleaner flower and use a pencil or stick to suspend the flower in the solution.
  5. Leave the jar in a quiet area for at least 6-12 hours to allow crystals to grow.
