Description

Create your own mesmerizing lava lamp with this easy DIY project using simple materials and a few simple steps.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 clear jar or glass container with a lid
  • Water
  • Vegetable oil (or baby oil)
  • Food coloring
  • Alka-Seltzer tablets (or baking soda and vinegar)
  • Optional: glitter or small decorative items

Instructions

  1. Fill the Jar: Pour water into the jar until it’s about one-third full.
  2. Add Oil: Slowly add vegetable oil on top of the water, filling the jar nearly to the top.
  3. Add Color: Drip food coloring into the jar and watch as the color sinks through the oil into the water.
  4. Activate the Lava: Break an Alka-Seltzer tablet into smaller pieces and drop them into the jar one at a time.
  5. Add Extras: Sprinkle in glitter or small decorative items.
  6. Seal or Refresh: Add the lid or drop in more Alka-Seltzer tablets to refresh the effect.
