Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup fresh blueberries (or frozen)
- 2 tablespoons sugar (optional, for sweetness)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl: whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until combined.
- Cut in the chilled, cubed butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the buttermilk, then gently fold in the blueberries. Mix until just combined; be careful not to over-mix.
- Shape the dough onto a floured surface. Lightly knead 2-3 times, patting into a rectangle about 1 inch thick. Cut out biscuits using a cutter or glass.
- Bake the biscuits on the prepared sheet. If desired, sprinkle with sugar on top. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
