Description

Create delightful birdseed ornaments that nourish local birds while adding a festive touch to your outdoor decor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups birdseed mix
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • Cookie cutters (various shapes)
  • String or twine
  • Wax paper
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon
  • Optional: food coloring

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of birdseed mix with 1/4 cup of flour. Add 1/4 cup of corn syrup and 1/4 cup of water. Stir until well combined.
  2. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to your mixture and blend thoroughly.
  3. Lay out a piece of wax paper. Use cookie cutters to shape the mixture, pressing it firmly. Create a small hole at the top of each shape using a straw or chopstick.
  4. Place the shaped ornaments on a drying rack or on wax paper and allow them to dry for 24-48 hours.
  5. Once dried, thread a piece of string or twine through the hole at the top of each ornament and tie a knot to secure it for hanging.

Notes

Use fresh birdseed for the best results. Customize shapes and add spices for extra aroma.
