Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 cup white vinegar
- Natural food coloring (various colors)
- Non-stick cooking spray
- Wax paper or parchment paper
- Shape cutters or molds
- String or thread (for hanging)
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: In a saucepan, mix together cornstarch, water, and white vinegar. Stir well until smooth.
- Heat Mixture: Place the saucepan over medium heat and continuously stir until the mixture thickens, resembling a gel-like consistency.
- Incorporate Food Coloring: Remove from heat and divide into bowls. Add food coloring and mix to achieve desired shades.
- Prepare Work Surface: Lay down wax paper or parchment paper on a flat surface.
- Pour Mixture: Spoon bioplastic into molds or use shape cutters on the wax paper, aiming for a thickness of 1/4 inch.
- Let Dry: Allow to dry completely for 24-48 hours until firm yet flexible.
- Finish: Carefully peel off the wax paper once dry.
- Add String: Puncture a small hole at the top of each suncatcher and thread a piece of string for hanging.
Notes
Experiment with colors and textures by adding dried flowers or glitter. Store any unused mixture in an airtight container for up to a week.
