Description

Craft delightful bioplastic sun catchers using eco-friendly materials, perfect for vibrant home decor and educational fun.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cup of cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons of corn syrup
  • Food coloring
  • Wax paper or silicone molds
  • Baking sheet (if using wax paper)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon
  • Cookie cutters (optional)
  • String or ribbon for hanging

Instructions

  1. Gather all materials: Make sure you have everything at hand.
  2. Cover your surfaces: Lay down wax paper if working on a hard surface for easy cleanup.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of cornstarch.
  4. Stir until there are no lumps; you should feel a smooth consistency.
  5. Add 2 tablespoons of corn syrup for added flexibility.
  6. Mix in your desired food coloring to achieve the perfect shade.
  7. Pour the mixture onto wax paper or into silicone molds.
  8. If you want specific shapes, use cookie cutters to create fun designs.
  9. Smooth out the mixture gently to achieve even thickness.
  10. Preheat your oven to 175°F (80°C).
  11. Place the baking sheet with your sun catchers in the oven.
  12. Bake for 3-4 hours or until the surface is firm and dry to the touch.
  13. Once cooled, carefully remove your sun catchers from the wax paper or molds.
  14. Use a hole punch to create a hole at the top for hanging.
  15. Thread a piece of string or ribbon through the hole.

Notes
