Description
This easy-to-make homemade kinetic sand recipe offers a fun, mess-free sensory play experience that engages creativity and fine motor skills.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups of sand (play sand or fine, clean sand)
- 1 cup of flour
- 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon of water (plus a little extra if needed)
- Food coloring (optional, for color)
Instructions
- Gather your ingredients and make sure you have all your materials ready to mix.
- In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of sand with 1 cup of flour. Mix thoroughly to ensure even distribution.
- Pour 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil into the mixture. This will give the sand a nice, smooth texture.
- Slowly add 1 tablespoon of water to the mixture. Stir until you achieve the desired consistency. If it feels too dry, add a little more water, a teaspoon at a time.
- If you want colored kinetic sand, add a few drops of food coloring and mix until evenly distributed.
- Using your hands, knead the sand mixture until it becomes pliable and achieves the perfect kinetic sand texture.
Notes
Store kinetic sand in an airtight container to keep it fresh and pliable. If your sand is too dry, gradually add additional water until you reach your desired consistency.
