Description

A fun and explosive science experiment that combines creativity with chemistry, perfect for kids and adults.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 tablespoons baking soda
  • ½ cup vinegar
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Dish soap (optional)
  • Small container (like a plastic cup or small bottle)
  • Tray or large dish (to contain spills)
  • Measuring spoons
  • Water (optional)

Instructions

  1. Choose a spot for your volcano, ideally over a tray to catch spills. Shape some clay or playdough around your container to create a mountain.
  2. Pour 2-3 tablespoons of baking soda into your small container. For a foamy effect, add a squirt of dish soap.
  3. Mix a few drops of food coloring into the baking soda to create a vibrant eruption.
  4. Measure out about half a cup of vinegar in a separate container.
  5. Pour the vinegar into the baking soda-filled container and watch closely as the mixture bubbles and erupts, creating a colorful flow.

Notes

Customize your volcano with different shapes and colors. Always supervise young children during the activity.
