Description

Engaging and educational baking soda volcano experiment that demonstrates chemical reactions with colorful eruptions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon dish soap
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Container or bottle (for the volcano structure)
  • Tray or large dish (to catch the overflow)
  • Small funnel or spoon (for easy pouring)

Instructions

  1. Place your container or bottle upright on a tray or large dish.
  2. Add 1/2 cup of baking soda into the container. Optionally, add a few drops of food coloring.
  3. Pour in 1 tablespoon of dish soap.
  4. In a separate bowl, pour 1 cup of vinegar. Slowly add it to the container with the baking soda mixture using a funnel or spoon.
  5. Watch the reaction, enjoy the fizzing eruption, and observe the vibrant colors.

Notes

For multicolored eruptions, use different food colorings. You can also add essential oils for scent or scale the quantities for a larger volcano.
