Description

A fun, interactive project that demonstrates a volcanic eruption using baking soda and vinegar, perfect for all ages.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 tablespoons baking soda
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • A small container (like a plastic cup or bottle)
  • Tray or baking sheet (to catch overflow)
  • Spoon for mixing

Instructions

  1. Prepare a stable, flat surface and place your tray or baking sheet there.
  2. Place your small container in the center, which will act as your volcano.
  3. Spoon 2-3 tablespoons of baking soda into your container. Optional: Mix in a few drops of food coloring.
  4. Ensure your area is clear and everyone is ready for the eruption!
  5. Pour about 1/2 cup of vinegar into the container with the baking soda and watch the eruption.
  6. Observe the fizzing and overflowing. Encourage discussion about the reaction!
