Ingredients

  • Clear glass jars or cups
  • Baking soda (about 1 tablespoon per jar)
  • White vinegar (about 1/2 cup per jar)
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Edible glitter or craft glitter (optional)
  • Small funnel (optional)
  • Spoon for mixing

Instructions

  1. Start with clean glass jars or cups. Ensure they are dry before use.
  2. Using a spoon or funnel, add about 1 tablespoon of baking soda to each jar.
  3. Pour in a few drops of food coloring into each jar, choosing any color you prefer.
  4. Sprinkle a small amount of edible glitter or craft glitter into the jars.
  5. Pour about 1/2 cup of vinegar into the jar with the baking soda mixture.
  6. Stand back and watch the magical reaction! The fizzing will create a stunning ‘fireworks’ effect.
  7. As the reaction subsides, you can observe the sparkling layers created by the glitter. Swirl gently for added effects.

Notes

Experiment with different food coloring combinations and glitter types. This activity is safe for kids but requires adult supervision.
