Description

A fun and educational experiment to create your own fireworks using baking soda and vinegar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 tablespoons baking soda
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Small container or cup (like a plastic cup or glass)
  • Tray or parchment paper
  • Spoon or stirring stick
  • Optional: glitter

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Area – Set up outdoors or in an easy-to-clean area. Lay down parchment paper or a tray to contain any overflow.
  2. Add Baking Soda – Pour approximately 2-3 tablespoons of baking soda into your small container.
  3. Optionally Color It – Add a few drops of food coloring to the baking soda for a colorful explosion.
  4. Prepare Your Vinegar – Measure out about 1/2 cup of vinegar in a separate cup.
  5. Combine Ingredients – Slowly pour the vinegar into the container with the baking soda and watch as a fizzy eruption occurs.
  6. Enjoy the Show – Step back and marvel at your DIY “fireworks” show!

Notes

This activity is safe but should be supervised for young children. Cleanup is easy as both ingredients are non-toxic.
