Ingredients
Scale
- 2–3 tablespoons baking soda
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- Food coloring (optional)
- Small container or cup (like a plastic cup or glass)
- Tray or parchment paper
- Spoon or stirring stick
- Optional: glitter
Instructions
- Prepare Your Area – Set up outdoors or in an easy-to-clean area. Lay down parchment paper or a tray to contain any overflow.
- Add Baking Soda – Pour approximately 2-3 tablespoons of baking soda into your small container.
- Optionally Color It – Add a few drops of food coloring to the baking soda for a colorful explosion.
- Prepare Your Vinegar – Measure out about 1/2 cup of vinegar in a separate cup.
- Combine Ingredients – Slowly pour the vinegar into the container with the baking soda and watch as a fizzy eruption occurs.
- Enjoy the Show – Step back and marvel at your DIY “fireworks” show!
Notes
This activity is safe but should be supervised for young children. Cleanup is easy as both ingredients are non-toxic.
