Description

A fun and educational experiment that creates spectacular eruptions using baking soda and vinegar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Small container (like a plastic cup)
  • 23 tablespoons baking soda
  • ¼ cup white vinegar
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Spoon or stir stick
  • Tray or baking sheet (to catch spills)
  • Safety goggles (for added fun)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by setting up a tray or baking sheet to contain any mess and gathering all materials.
  2. Add 2-3 tablespoons of baking soda to the small container and observe its dry texture.
  3. If using, add a few drops of food coloring to the baking soda.
  4. Quickly pour in ¼ cup of white vinegar and stand back to watch the mini fireworks display.
  5. Observe the bubbling and fizzing action.
  6. Once the fizzing subsides, clean up spills with a wet cloth or sponge.

Notes

Experiment with different ratios of baking soda and vinegar for varied reactions or add dish soap for extra bubbles.
