Description

A fun and educational craft that demonstrates a chemical reaction while creating a visually appealing growing tree.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • A tray or shallow dish
  • A bowl for mixing
  • A spoon for stirring
  • Optional: Glitter or salt for added texture

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix 1 cup of baking soda with 1 cup of water. Stir until fully combined. Pour the mixture onto the tray or shallow dish, creating a solid base.
  2. Shape your baking soda mixture into a tree-like structure using your hands or a spoon. Optionally, add food coloring directly onto the mixture.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix 1 teaspoon of vinegar with more food coloring if desired. Slowly pour this mixture over your baking soda tree and watch the reaction!
  4. Once the reaction calms, let the structure dry for a day or two to create a unique piece of art.
