Description

Create exciting baking soda treasure rocks that hide small toys and gems, combining craft and chemistry for a fun experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Small toys or gemstones for hiding
  • Plastic molds or silicone ice trays
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon
  • Baking sheet (for drying)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of corn syrup.
  2. Gradually add 1/2 cup of vinegar to the dry ingredients to create a fizzy reaction.
  3. Stir until it forms a thick paste.
  4. Divide the mixture into small bowls and add food coloring.
  5. Choose plastic molds or silicone ice trays and place small toys or gemstones at the bottom.
  6. Spoon the colored mixture over the treasures, filling molds completely.
  7. Tap molds gently to remove air bubbles and let them dry for 24 to 48 hours.
  8. Carefully remove dried rocks and let them air dry if still moist.
  9. Enjoy uncovering the hidden treasures!

Notes

Customize rock colors and shapes, use larger molds for bigger rocks, and experiment with textures like sand or glitter.
