Description

Engaging and colorful baking soda treasure rocks provide a fun and educational science experiment perfect for kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of baking soda
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of white vinegar
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Small treasures (mini plastic toys, coins, beads)
  • Plastic molds or cookie cutters
  • Mixing bowls
  • Spoon or whisk

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the baking soda and water to create a thick paste. Stir well until there are no dry lumps.
  2. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to the mixture and stir until evenly colored. Spoon the mixture into molds, filling them halfway. Gently place your small treasures on top and then add more mixture to fill the molds completely.
  3. Pour white vinegar over the molds to activate the baking soda, creating fizz and foam. Allow the mixture to set for at least 24 hours until hardened.
  4. Once dry, remove the treasure rocks from the molds. They are now ready for play! Drop them in water to watch them fizz and reveal their hidden treasures.
