Description

Create beautiful and colorful baking soda rainbow trees in this exciting hands-on craft project perfect for all ages.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • Liquid food coloring (various colors)
  • Small mixing bowls
  • A tray or baking sheet (to catch spills)
  • A squeeze bottle or pipette (for applying vinegar)
  • Paper towels (for cleanup)
  • Plastic gloves (optional, for easy clean-up)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix 1 cup of baking soda with a little water to make a thick paste. Scoop the mixture and shape it into small trees or any desired form. Place them on a tray.
  2. In separate bowls, prepare your colored vinegar by adding 5-6 drops of food coloring to 1/2 cup of white vinegar and stir until mixed.
  3. Grab your squeeze bottle or pipette filled with the colored vinegar and slowly drizzle or squeeze it over the baking soda trees to watch the fizzy reaction.
  4. After the fizzing tapers off, let the baking soda trees dry out for a few hours or overnight.
  5. Once fully dry, display your colorful creations!

Notes

Experiment with different shapes using cookie cutters and add glitter for extra sparkle. This activity can be done indoors or outdoors for easier cleanup.
