Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/3 cup white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • Food coloring (your choice of colors)
  • A shallow dish or baking tray
  • Pipe cleaners (preferably green for the trunk and branches)
  • Water (for soaking pipe cleaners)
  • Measuring cup and spoons
  • Stirring utensil

Instructions

  1. Soak the pipe cleaners in water for about 10 minutes.
  2. Bend and twist the soaked pipe cleaners into tree-like shapes.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda, 1/3 cup of white vinegar, and 1/4 cup of corn syrup.
  4. Mix the ingredients slowly to avoid excess bubbling.
  5. Divide the mixture into several bowls and add different food coloring to each.
  6. Stand your shaped pipe cleaners in a shallow dish or baking tray.
  7. Carefully pour the colored mixtures over the pipe cleaners, ensuring they are fully submerged.
  8. Set the dish aside for 24-48 hours to allow the crystals to form.

Notes
