Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup white vinegar
  • Food coloring (pastel colors of your choice)
  • Cardboard (for the tree base)
  • Small cups or bowls
  • Mixing bowl and spoon
  • Baking tray to catch any overflow

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda with ½ cup of water. Stir until the mixture is smooth and slightly thick.
  2. Use your hands to shape the baking soda mixture into a tree trunk and branches on the cardboard base. Make sure to create a sturdy structure.
  3. In small cups or bowls, add a few drops of food coloring to ¼ cup of white vinegar. Mix it gently until you see the colors blend.
  4. Pour the colored vinegar over the baking soda tree. Watch in awe as it fizzes and bubbles up, resembling blooming branches.
  5. Allow your tree to dry overnight to solidify the structure and preserve the colors.
