Description

Engaging craft activity that teaches kids about chemical reactions while creating whimsical trees.


Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup baking soda
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ cup vinegar
  • Dish soap
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Tray or baking sheet
  • Plastic cup or small bowl
  • Spoon for mixing
  • Measuring spoons

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix ½ cup of baking soda with ¼ cup of water until you have a moldable paste.
  2. Shape the baking soda paste into small tree-like forms.
  3. In a separate cup, combine ½ cup of vinegar with dish soap and food coloring.
  4. Pour the vinegar mixture over the baking soda trees on the tray and watch them grow as the mixture fizzes and bubbles!

Notes

Experiment with different food coloring and sizes for unique creations. Use a tray to contain any mess.
